Job summary

Fred Smith Company is seeking an experienced Asphalt Paving Foreman to lead our Eastern Division's paving crews in the Ahoskie, Greenville, and Wilson, NC area. This role focuses on safety, quality, and team development while ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

The Foreman will supervise crews, train workers on paving techniques, monitor equipment use and maintenance, and collaborate with project managers to optimize performance and cost control.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in asphalt paving, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of asphalt paving operations, materials and techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Experience using measuring tools and paving-related equipment.
• Knowledge of grading and site preparation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise paving crews to meet schedule and productivity goals.
• Promote safety, accountability and continuous improvement on the job site.
• Train and mentor crew members on equipment use and paving techniques.
• Ensure equipment is operated and maintained safely and effectively.
• Monitor performance, quality, costs, and schedule adherence.
• Oversee onboarding and orientation of new employees, including safety and policies.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback on development and compensation.
