Job summary

North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park, MN seeks a Lead American Sign Language Interpreter to provide impartial ASL interpretation for students and staff who are Deaf or hard of hearing, while advancing equity and access in educational opportunities.

The role includes administrative support, customer service, collaboration on departmental projects, and managing assistive technologies. Telework two days per week may be possible based on department needs.

Qualifications

• Hold RID/NAD interpreter certification or NAD Level III+ (IV/V) or comparable state certification.
• At least two years of experience as a sign language interpreter.
• Ability to communicate in English and ASL, and to select appropriate language style for Deaf/Hard of Hearing individuals.

Responsibilities

• Provide impartial and accurate ASL interpretation for students and NHCC employees who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
• Lead efforts to promote equity and inclusion and support departmental projects.
• Provide administrative support and customer service within the department.
• Manage assistive technologies and related software used in interpreting services.
