Job summary

North Hennepin Community College (NHCC) in Brooklyn Park, MN is seeking a Lead Sign Language Interpreter to provide impartial ASL interpretation for students and NHCC employees who are deaf or hard of hearing, and to lead equity efforts. The role also offers administrative and customer service support and collaboration on departmental projects.

The ideal candidate holds RID/NAD certifications or state credentials with Level III+ expertise and has at least two years of interpreting experience,

Qualifications

• Hold RID/NAD certifications or a state certificate at Level III or higher.
• Minimum two years of sign language interpretation experience.
• Experience with assistive tech such as MS Office, Read & Write Gold, JAWS, etc.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with Deaf/Hard of Hearing individuals.
• Ability to move around the building and communicate in English and ASL.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate ASL interpretation for students and staff.
• Lead efforts to promote equity and inclusive practices in the department.
• Support departmental projects and manage relevant technologies.
