Job summary

Stand is building a scalable risk engine using physics simulations, AI, and digital twins to model catastrophic risk at the asset level. As the Applied Science Platform Lead, you will head the platform sub‑team to build, deploy, and support Stand’s flagship simulations and geospatial workflows.

You’ll own direction, planning, and execution, collaborating with Physics and ML engineers and SME partners to ship reliable, scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience leading engineers and technical initiatives.
• 5+ years building production-grade data, simulation, or modeling pipelines.
• Strong ownership and execution from concept to production.
• Debugging distributed, data-heavy systems across APIs and workflows.
• Hands-on with cloud infrastructure and CI/CD.
• Experience with cluster compute and job scheduling (Slurm/Kubernetes).
• Ability to align technical work with business goals and customer impact.
• Clear, concise communication balancing depth and delivery timelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the platform sub-team, set priorities, coordinate execution, and unblock delivery.
• Manage and grow the team through 1:1s and growth conversations.
• Design, build, and scale core systems spanning physics simulation, AI, and digital twins.
• Own production pipelines, monitor uptime, and improve reliability.
• Build scalable ML infrastructure and geospatial data pipelines.
