Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Simulation Platform Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership for the design, development, and operation of a shared simulation platform supporting automation, robotics, and digital twin engineering. You will own major components, drive cloud, on-premises, and GPU-enabled capabilities, and mentor engineers across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline; master's preferred.
• Experience leading complex platform delivery and system integration.
• Strong software engineering background across languages and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of core simulation platform and backend services.
• Translate architecture roadmaps into executable designs and backlogs.
• Own delivery for simulation execution, lifecycle services, and failure recovery.
• Define APIs, SDKs, and integration patterns for platform usage.
• Design scalable solutions using Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native services across AWS, Azure, on-premises.
• Improve CI/CD, testing, packaging, deployment, and release workflows.
• Establish observability with logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, and alerts.
• Support GPU-enabled workloads and high-performance simulation at scale.
• Lead integration of Omniverse, Isaac Sim, Unreal Engine, and other frameworks.
• Create reusable tooling and self-service workflows to boost productivity.
• Partner across teams to ensure end-to-end system integration.
• Lead design reviews, debugging, root-cause analysis, and complex issue resolution.
• Promote reliability, security, maintainability, and performance.
