Job summary

Custom Ingredients, Inc. in North Carolina is seeking a Principal Applications Technologist to lead the Applications Laboratory, develop prototype formulations across beverages, confectionery, nutraceuticals, and functional foods, and provide technical solutions for customer projects.

Reporting to the Director of R&D, you will build the NC team, manage lab operations, ensure safety and quality, mentor staff, and collaborate with Sales, Regulatory, and Quality to drive product development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in food or flavor applications.
• Experience supervising technical personnel and laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the North Carolina Applications Laboratory daily operations.
• Develop and optimize prototype formulations across food categories.
• Provide formulation expertise and troubleshoot for customers onsite.
• Recruit, hire, train, and develop lab personnel.
• Collaborate with Sales, Regulatory, Quality, and Operations teams.
• Travel domestically for customer visits and collaborations.
