Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Manager, Applications & Data Systems to lead CCCSE's Python/Django applications, survey and data systems, and relational databases on the UT Main Campus. You will own the technical direction of the platform and manage a small IT staff.

You will design and deploy secure web applications and APIs, drive modernization efforts, and ensure data integrity across systems, with collaboration across departments and with AWS/University infrastructure teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, or related field with at least five years of professional software-development experience.
• Professional expertise developing, maintaining, testing, and supporting production Python and Django applications with secure, database-driven web apps.
• Experience designing and optimizing relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Experience integrating systems via APIs, scheduled processes, and access controls.
• Experience with analytics integration, Git, testing, and production release practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, test, document, and deploy secure Python/Django apps, APIs, and integrations.
• Provide technical leadership across applications, databases, survey platforms, and data-exchange environments.
• Lead data exchanges and resolve complex integration issues; coordinate with AWS and infrastructure teams.
• Improve connections between applications and databases; drive modernization and routine improvements.
• Analyze processes with staff to deliver usable solutions for survey administration and analytics.
• Supervise and mentor a junior IT staff member; establish development/testing standards and documentation.
