Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking an Application Engineering Supervisor to lead a team delivering externally facing digital experiences for agents and policyholders. This role blends people leadership with hands-on engineering, contributing to design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.

You will guide technical decisions, promote best practices, and foster collaboration across teams to ensure secure, reliable software in a hybrid on-site/remote environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting Java-based microservices.
• Strong knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, and modern development frameworks.
• Experience leading cross-functional delivery with security, performance, and production readiness.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily operations of the Application Engineering team and optimize workflows.
• Provide direct supervision, coaching, feedback, and mentorship to engineers.
• Act as a working technical leader contributing to design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Lead design, integration, testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution of software applications.
• Foster collaboration across development, operations, product, QA, and architecture teams to improve delivery and user experience.
• Promote pair programming, code reviews, and shared problem solving.
