Job summary

Washington State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital seeks an Animal Technician Supervisor to lead the small animal care team and oversee daily operations, ensuring high standards of animal welfare and compliance. You will supervise staff, manage inventory, and coordinate cleaning, laundry, and waste handling to support teaching and clinical missions.

The role requires supervisory experience in animal care, a relevant degree or equivalent, and adherence to safety training.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as an Animal Technician 3, with at least one year in lead or supervisory responsibility.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education/experience accepted.
• Must pass WSU radiation safety training exam on first attempt.
• Experience with canine, feline, birds and exotics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of small animal care services and ensure welfare, biosecurity, sanitation, and regulatory compliance.
• Lead, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate civil service and hourly staff.
• Coordinate stocking, inventory, laundry, and waste/regulatory disposal.
• Maintain operation records and support veterinary teaching hospital operations.
