Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Team Lead for the Android Core Product in Grand Rapids, MI. This is a hands-on leadership role with ownership of major features from design to release, while writing code and guiding the team to reliable, high-quality releases.

You will review PRs, unblock blockers, and drive efficient collaboration with Product, Design, and Engineering. The ideal candidate ships impactful Android features and mentors engineers in a fast-paced distributed environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with team leadership
• Proficient in Kotlin and Android stacks
• Experience shipping background audio apps or long-running work
• Strong testing mindset and quality focus
• Proven track record of lasting team improvements and process changes
• Ability to drive changes and manage cross-functional collaboration
• Experience describing AI-assisted team workflows and tooling

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end from design through release
• Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback
• Unblock the team when blockers occur
• Ensure consistent usage of shared components across the codebase
• Lead planning and coordinate with Product, Design, and Engineering
• Deliver nightly builds for QA and production readiness
• Mentor early-career engineers and culture of learning
