Job summary

W.S. Connelly & Co., LLC is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to take ownership of data ingestion, modeling, and governance, consolidating work previously distributed among an MSP and external consultants.

The role starts by partnering with an interim analytics resource and transitions to full ownership as the backfill completes. You will evaluate platforms, design a modern data warehouse architecture, enforce data modeling standards, and build a governance framework to ensure trustworthy

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in data/analytics engineering with hands-on design/build of data warehouses or lakehouses on modern platforms (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Databricks).
Strong ETL/ELT development experience across multiple source systems, including ERP platforms.
Demonstrated experience implementing data governance: data quality, access control, documentation, and lineage.
Strong Power BI development skills (data modeling, DAX, report/dashboard design) to set enterprise standards.
Experience transitioning outsourced or MSP-managed infrastructure in-house and/or transitioning knowledge during a handover.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and recommend a modern data warehouse/lakehouse platform and design/maintain architecture.
Own end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines from source systems into a governed warehouse.
Establish and enforce data modeling standards (dimensional/star schema) across the environment.
Build and maintain a data governance framework with definitions, naming conventions, quality rules, access controls, and lineage.
Consolidate reporting onto Power BI as the company standard and sunset legacy reporting tools.
Manage data access and security models within the new architecture, with auditable controls.
Collaborate with interim resources during transition to absorb existing logic and datasets, then assume full ownership.
Partner with Power BI consultants and stakeholders to translate reporting needs into governed, reusable data models.
Support integration of newly acquired entities into the unified data architecture as part of expansion.
Document data architecture, pipelines, and governance policies to support audit readiness.
