Job summary

UC Davis is seeking an Analytical Section Supervisor to lead the drug testing laboratory. You will supervise the daily activities, coordinate many test technologies including screening and confirmation analyses via GC-MS and LC-MS, and direct research on analytes in biological matrices.

You will guide method development, optimize procedures, and update SOPs with QA/QC in mind. You will mentor chemists, supervise staff, and collaborate with graduate students and academics on projects.

Qualifications

Advanced degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or related field.
Experience leading in a fast-paced, regulated lab environment with strict turnaround times.
At least 5 years operating LC-MS or LC-MS/MS in a lab and troubleshooting instrumentation.

Responsibilities

Supervise daily activities of the drug testing lab personnel to meet production goals.
Direct research projects for analysis of molecules in biological matrices using LC-MS/GC-MS.
Develop and validate analytical procedures, SOPs, and QA/QC practices.
Coordinate confirmation analyses including B samples to verify work of other labs.
Lead, mentor, and manage multidisciplinary teams.
