**Responsibilities**

The **Ascension Data Sciences Institute (ADSI)** was created in July 2019 with the mission of supporting Ascension in achieving its Quadruple Aim with uniquely skilled, high-performing associates who develop analyses, models and applications to enable Ascension in providing higher value healthcare and making strategic decisions. ADSI comprises domains addressing 1) Clinical quality and patient safety; 2) Strategic Operations and Financial Analytics; 3) Actuarial and Managed Care Analytics; 4) Registry Abstraction Healthcare Solutions; and 5) Healthcare Data Intelligence. We recognize that the healthcare environment is a complex ecosystem of rapidly evolving clinical and economic practices that affect patient and provider experience and demands increasingly sophisticated and complex measurement. Our objective is for advanced analytics and data science to play a critical and foundational role in the transformation of care delivery, quality, and financial outcomes to enable our organization’s competitive advantage.

In this highly visible role, you will lead critical analytics projects to develop data-driven insights and advisory for critical federal and state legislation impacting healthcare delivery and access. Example subject areas may include: site neutral payment reform, fiscal policy proposals, and annual regulatory updates to public insurance programs.

The Lead Analyst will be responsible for:

+ Evaluating volume and financial impacts to the health system related to proposed policies and/or policy changes.

+ Supporting stakeholders with advanced analyses and consulting, with a focus on policy implications related to healthcare services access and reimbursement across Ascension sites of care.

+ Serving as key resource/SME in collection and analysis of data from multiple sources for the development of reports, including querying relational databases, performing complex analyses, and contextualizing data across billing, clinical, and claims data repositories and external datasets.

+ Interpreting outliers, patterns, and trends, and compiling recommendations in ad hoc and standard reports/presentations to senior management.

+ Developing innovative methodologies for analyzing complex problems, and designing streamlined reporting for best-in-class data analytics and advisory.

+ Providing leadership, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff on how to access reports and interpret the data.

+ Making recommendations for continuous improvement for all data, reports, presentations, and other shared materials.

+ Overseeing the provision of ad hoc management reports, including design, build, and delivery.

**Requirements**

Education:

+ High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specificexperience required. 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred.

**Additional Preferences**

+ 5 years of experience (or applicable education) preferred.

+ Master’s degree or higher in public policy, healthcare administration, healthcare economics or public health preferred

+ Experience in healthcare policy or related fiscal policy preferred. Large health systems experience a plus.

+ Proficiency in SQL. Prior use of other programming languages (Python, R) is a plus.

+ Comfortable manipulating and synthesizing very large datasets.

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.

+ Excellent organizational skills.

+ Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning.

+ Experience using cloud-based data storage platforms (Google Cloud Platform, Salesforce Cloud Data Platform, etc.) a plus.
