Job summary

Ellwood Aluminum in Hubbard, OH seeks a senior Metallurgist to lead aluminum melting, refining, alloying, and casting processes. You will act as SME for aluminum metallurgy, microstructure evaluation, and heat treatment protocols, while guiding NDT and destructive testing to ensure aerospace/industrial spec compliance.

Qualifications

• BS in Metallurgical Engineering or related field required; MS/PhD preferred with aluminum solidification/casting focus.
• Minimum 10 years in direct metallurgical engineering in aluminum foundry or casting.
• PE license highly preferred; ASQ CQE or Six Sigma Black Belt desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee melting, refining, alloying, and casting processes (including die casting, mold options).
• Act as SME for aluminum metallurgy, microstructure evaluation, and heat treatment protocols.
• Lead NDT and destructive testing programs to ensure quality and compliance.
• Drive RCFA for casting defects and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with design teams to develop new alloys and evaluate casting tech.
• Mentor junior engineers, metallurgists, and lab technicians.
• Verify raw material suppliers and assist in supplier rating.
• Assist purchasing in identifying new suppliers.
