Job summary

Starbucks is seeking a Cloud Engineer – Lead to design, build, operate a secure AKS platform on Azure. You will lead DevOps practices, collaborate with security and product teams, and mentor engineers.

The role requires deep Kubernetes expertise, Azure PaaS, and cost optimization, with hybrid work options in the Seattle area. You will implement GitOps workflows using Argo CD, Istio, and Terraform-based provisioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8–10 years in cloud/platform or software engineering.
• 2+ years leading teams of four or more engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate AKS platforms at scale with a secure, multi-tenant approach.
• Lead Kubernetes and platform engineering efforts, mentoring engineers and aligning with security and cost goals.
• Implement GitOps with Argo CD, Istio, and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Collaborate across application, security, networking, and business teams.
• Optimize platform reliability, performance, and cost through automation and IaC.
