Job summary

Harry Reid International Airport seeks a Senior Airport Equipment Mechanic to lead and train a team of skilled staff, performing journey-level mechanical work across the airport, including the highly complex luggage movement systems.

The role involves mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, with potential focus on Baggage Handling System (BHS). Pre-employment checks and a Nevada driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from high school and equivalent to successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an electrician, HVAC or facility mechanic or a related trade.
• Three (3) years of full-time skilled experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of industrial or commercial mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide lead direction, training and work review to a work crew or team; organize and assign work.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair luggage movement systems and aircraft passenger boarding bridges.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair doors, gates and related safety systems.
• Maintain records and prepare cost estimates for jobs.
• Supervise contract employees and ensure safety precautions are followed.

Education

High school graduation

Recognized apprenticeship as electrician/HVAC/facility mechanic

Three (3) years of full-time skilled experience in mechanical systems
