Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking an AI Lead Software Engineer in its Corporate Technology group in Jersey City, NJ. You will be a technical leader on an agile team responsible for designing and delivering secure, scalable AI-enabled platforms that support the firm’s strategic objectives.

You will collaborate with product, business, and engineering stakeholders to drive architecture, mentor engineers, and establish robust CI/CD, IaC, and guardrails for responsible AI deployment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of applied software engineering experience.
• Proven track record delivering scalable, secure distributed systems in production.
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot with SQL and React.
• Strong grasp of microservices, event-driven design, and API-first approaches.
• Experience building on AWS, including containers and orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes).
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code to improve release safety and speed.
• Experience with REST and GraphQL API designs, including security and performance considerations.
• Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted development tools with emphasis on correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows and governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions that solve complex business problems with modern engineering practices.
• Drive architectural decisions to improve scalability, resiliency, and availability for distributed systems.
• Build and maintain secure, production-grade services with code quality through reviews, testing, and engineering excellence.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, pairing, and actionable feedback to raise team capability.
• Implement CI/CD automation and reliability patterns to support safe, frequent releases.
• Develop data-intensive services and workflows using Java or Scala with large-scale datasets and modern data platforms.
• Design and build AI-enabled applications, including retrieval-augmented generation patterns and agentic workflows, with evaluation and guardrails.
• Drive adoption of enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
