Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design AI-powered, high‑scale systems for the global streaming ecosystem. You will build agentic models, real-time pipelines, and proactive insights to improve reliability across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN.

You'll partner with cross-functional teams to embed intelligence in operational workflows, drive faster resolution, and enhance subscriber experience while contributing to production components and code

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend development experience with AI-powered or data-driven apps.
• Proficiency in Spark, PySpark and Python.
• Experience building production-grade systems at scale.
• Strong AI/ML engineering background with foundation models (Claude, OpenAI) via LangChain/LangGraph.
• Familiarity with PyTorch or TensorFlow for model work.
• Proficiency with Git, Docker, and AWS/EKS for cloud deployments.
• Strong API design and microservices understanding.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement distributed systems leveraging real-time telemetry and AI-driven anomaly detection.
• Define patterns and scaling for agentic AI systems enabling automated reasoning.
• Develop data pipelines transforming logs into actionable insights and automated detections.
• Create scalable APIs and services delivering predictive signals to teams and stakeholders.
• Embed intelligence into workflows to improve incident response and subscriber experience.
• Drive observability, reliability, and developer productivity using AI and modern tooling.
• Establish engineering standards, code quality, and CI/CD for production components.
