Job summary

GDIT is seeking a Lead AI Engineer in Chantilly, VA to drive AI/ML strategy across a six‑TO software development portfolio. The role requires architecture leadership, collaboration with PMO and Solution Architect, and delivery of AI-enabled capabilities within a secure government program.

The ideal candidate will guide AI/ML ingestion, model selection, and metrics, while aligning with enterprise standards and customer policies to deliver high-impact outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering and/or AI/ML engineering.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Transformers, spaCy, Hugging Face.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an AI/ML strategy for the six-Task Order IDIQ portfolio.
• Architect and guide the design, deployment, and integration of AI/ML solutions into applications.
• Lead AI model selection, training pipelines, and MLOps practices across the portfolio.
• Ensure AI solutions are secure, auditable, and compliant with regulations and policies.
• Mentor engineering teams on AI concepts, tools, and best practices.
