Ladders is seeking a Lead AI Engineer - NBA for a remote role with a healthcare leader. You will design and ship production AI solutions that improve analysis and automation across the organization, blending hands-on software engineering with AI architecture and close collaboration with product and frontend teams.

The ideal candidate will guide a small team and contractors, shape how AI is applied in a regulated healthcare context, and define technical direction while delivering user-facing AI

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software or ML engineering experience, with 1-2 years in LLM integration or AI product engineering.
• Hands-on experience building production agentic systems with multi-step pipelines.
• Strong Python engineering skills for production-grade AI systems.
• Experience integrating LLM APIs into real applications.
• Proven ability to lead a small team and manage contractor resources.
• Strong judgment on AI applicability in regulated contexts.
• Clear communicator capable of bridging technical and non-technical discussions.
• Deep fluency with AI productivity tools like Claude and Copilot.

For our client, we are seeking a Lead AI Engineer - NBA to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space.

This remote role will focus on designing and shipping production AI solutions that improve analysis and automation across the organization. The position will combine hands-on software engineering with AI architecture, requiring close partnership with product and frontend teams to create practical, user-facing experiences. The ideal candidate will also help define how AI is applied in a regulated healthcare environment while setting technical direction for a small team and contractor resources.

Location: Remote

Compensation: $129,300 – $177,800 annually
