Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Lead Artificial Intelligence Engineer (Development & Infrastructure) to design, develop, and maintain AI-enabled software and infrastructure.

The role focuses on building production-ready AI components, including RAG pipelines, vector database integrations, and agentic AI systems, while ensuring security, compliance, and scalable design. You will collaborate across teams to deliver customer-focused AI features with reliability and performance in mind.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience
• 6–8 years of relevant software engineering experience
• 10+ years of overall software development experience in Python and Java or other OO languages
• 3+ years leading software projects with enterprise level solutions
• 2–3 years containerization & orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes)
• 2–3 years experience with Generative AI use cases including RAG architectures
• Experience building and integrating vector databases for semantic search and AI-powered retrieval
• Exposure to agentic AI concepts and LangChain/LangGraph for complex workflows
• 2–3 years building data-driven APIs/services using Python
• Familiarity with UI frameworks and Agile/DevOps
• Understanding of responsible AI principles and guardrails

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, test, develop and maintain software experiences with AI integrations
• Develop production-ready, testable code for components, services, and AI workflows
• Assist in building Generative AI solutions and RAG pipelines with vector databases
• Support development of agentic AI systems with guardrails and reliability considerations
• Follow architectural patterns for scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient AI solutions
• Participate in code reviews and improve implementations based on feedback
• Adhere to compliance, data privacy and security best practices
• Stay updated on GenAI, agentic frameworks, and vector search technologies
• Collaborate across teams to deliver incremental features
