Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to advance AI foundations and VLM customization. You will collaborate with engineers, researchers, PMs, and product teams to deploy AI systems, including model training, inference, and governance, across our platform.

The role requires strong software engineering and ML expertise, with responsibilities spanning from design to deployment and observability of large-scale AI services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/AI/EE/CE or related field with 4+ years in AI/ML.
• Master’s degree in CS/AI/EE/CE or related field with 2+ years in AI/ML.
• At least 4 years of programming experience in Python, Go, Scala or Java.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components.
• Leverage a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
• Invent state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques for performance and cost.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems.
