Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to advance AI foundations and VLM customization. You will partner with engineers, researchers, PMs, and others to build AI-powered products, including foundation model training, inference, and guardrails.

You’ll work with AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, and PyTorch to push performance and scalability in production AI systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field with several years of AI/ML experience.
• 4+ years coding in Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
• Experience deploying scalable AI/ML solutions on cloud platforms and building production systems.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components (LMs, inference, guardrails).
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies (AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, PyTorch).
• Invent state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques for production scale.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap for AI systems.
