Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace in Plymouth, MN is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to provide expert-level technical leadership in AI algorithms, computer vision, and autonomy for aerial platforms. You will craft multi-year research plans and drive AI technologies for UAV/UAM operations, reporting to the autonomy, CV and AI research group manager on a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or PhD in robotics, aerospace engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years’ experience developing AI or computer vision for autonomy and aerospace.
• Track record of proposing and winning contracts with DARPA, ARL or other government agencies.
• Mastery in computer vision and AI for aerospace applications.
• Experience leading complex R&D programs for internal and government customers.
• Ability to lead direct and indirect reports by influence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of complex AI solutions to address specific business needs, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and robustness.
• Drive AI, Computer Vision and Autonomy technology strategy development.
• Define and lead research into new techniques for AI across aerospace applications.
• Drive transitions and productization of AI and computer vision for UAV/UAM platforms.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to AI engineers, fostering a culture of learning and excellence.
