Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace seeks a Lead AI Engineer in Plymouth, MN to provide expert-level technical leadership in AI, CV, and autonomy for aerial platforms. You will craft multi-year research plans, pursue government and internal funding, and lead a global team of scientists and engineers in deploying advanced AI solutions.

You will report to the manager of autonomy, CV and AI research group and work on a hybrid schedule from Plymouth, MN.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a technical discipline such as robotics, aerospace engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience developing AI or computer vision algorithms for autonomy, navigation and aerospace applications.
• History of proposing and winning contracts with government agencies (e.g., DARPA, ARL)
• Expertise in R&D for computer vision and AI in aerospace applications
• Experience leading complex R&D programs for internal and external government customers
• Ability to lead direct and indirect reports by influence

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of complex AI solutions addressing business needs with scalability and robustness.
• Define and drive AI, Computer Vision and Autonomy technology strategy.
• Lead research into new techniques for AI across aerospace applications.
• Drive tech transitions and productization of AI/vision technologies for UAV/UAM platforms
• Mentor AI engineers and foster a culture of learning and technical excellence
