Job summary

Landmark, a Halliburton business line, seeks a Principal Software Engineer, AI & Developer Experience to define tooling and architectures that enable software engineers and AI agents to collaborate across CI/CD, source control, and internal platforms.

You will lead large-scale engineering initiatives, build reusable components, and establish standards for a high-performing development environment in Houston, TX.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar technical discipline.
• Seven+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven experience designing, developing, testing, troubleshooting, securing, and maintaining software solutions.
• Experience with software engineering workflows: source control, build automation, automated testing, code review, CI/CD, release automation.
• Experience improving software architecture, engineering tools, or development practices in a complex software environment.
• Ability to lead technically complex initiatives and influence decisions without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture for AI-enabled software development across Landmark and related platforms.
• Set standards for a high-performing developer environment including local development, builds, tests, and deterministic environments.
• Design and build an AI tooling layer connecting engineers with AI agents, tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead pilots and reference implementations to validate architectural approaches in production repositories.
• Create automated repository assessments and health indicators to identify risks and opportunities.
• Develop and maintain internal developer tools and platform integrations.
