Job summary

EPAM Systems seeks a Lead Node.js AI Software Engineer to design and develop scalable backend services using Node.js, Nest.js, and TypeScript, building GraphQL and REST APIs, and deploying to AWS/Azure.

You will explore AI/ML capabilities, including LLM-based solutions, and collaborate with engineers, architects, product teams to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong hands-on Node.js, Nest.js, and TypeScript.
• Proven experience designing GraphQL APIs.
• Experience building REST APIs and integrating third-party services.
• Hands-on with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
• Experience integrating AI/ML APIs into production environments.
• English fluency at upper-intermediate or higher.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and scale robust backend services using Node.js, Nest.js, and TypeScript.
• Design, build, and optimize GraphQL and REST APIs, ensuring reliable third-party integrations.
• Deploy, manage, and optimize backend applications and cloud environments on AWS and/or Azure.
• Research, evaluate, and integrate AI models and services to deliver intelligent product features.
• Integrate AI/ML APIs, including LLM-based solutions, into production applications.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, product managers, and other stakeholders to design effective technical solutions.
• Participate actively in Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, and Retrospectives.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to maintaining high engineering standards.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code and contribute to automated testing practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend, API, integration, and performance issues.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and continuously improve backend development practices.
