Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Lead AI Automation Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership in designing, building, and productionizing AI-enabled automation across Data Governance.

You will lead architecture, establish reusable patterns, mentor engineers, and drive high-value automation from concept to scalable deployment. Responsibilities include integrating LLMs with enterprise data, APIs, and orchestration engines while applying low-code where suitable and upholding security and governance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (CS/Engineering/Info Systems/AI or related).
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, application development, automation engineering, or platform/enterprise integration.
• 2+ years hands-on AI/ML, generative AI, or intelligent automation experience with recent LLM/agentic work.
• Experience delivering automation/AI-enabled solutions from concept to production deployment and support.
• Proven technical leadership including design reviews, engineering pattern establishment, and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and hands-on development of AI-enabled automations and agentic workflows for Data Governance use cases.
• Build solutions combining LLMs, business logic, workflows, APIs, and enterprise data.
• Design reusable automation frameworks, services, connectors, prompts, tools, and patterns.
• Integrate AI automation with metadata management, data quality, lineage, and data platform capabilities.
• Engineer APIs and services for safe retrieval of context and execution of actions in enterprise systems.
• Apply Power Platform and low-code approaches where appropriate, with strong software engineering discipline.
• Establish patterns for orchestration, state management, and failure recovery.
• Define testing, monitoring, and quality controls for AI automations (accuracy, latency, cost).
• Partner with architects, security, AI teams, product owners, and governance leaders to translate processes into secure automations.
• Lead technical reviews, mentor engineers, improve engineering standards, and provide direction while delivering hands-on work.
