Job summary

NTT DATA is seeking a Lead Agentic AI Engineer to integrate GenAI capabilities into large-scale Java applications in Charlotte, NC. You will orchestrate AI agents and translate complex business problems into production-ready systems using LangChain, LangGraph, Java, and Spring Boot.

This hands-on role requires 8+ years of enterprise Java experience, expertise in RAG pipelines and vector databases, and the ability to operate at client sites three days per week.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in enterprise Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on expertise with Agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph) and prompt engineering.
• Experience building and scaling RAG pipelines and vector DB integrations.
• Experience with secure API gateways and optimized LLM endpoints.
• Onsite at client in Charlotte, NC at least 3 days/week.
• Ability to navigate enterprise security, regulatory constraints, and complex architectures.

Responsibilities

• Agentic system orchestration using LangChain and LangGraph for tool calls and memory.
• Embed GenAI workflows into large-scale Java/Spring Boot apps via APIs and microservices.

Job Description:

Role Overview

While our infrastructure teams optimize the underlying hardware and gateway layers, we require a Lead Agentic AI Engineer to seamlessly integrate these highly optimized GenAI capabilities into our large-scale, distributed Java applications. You will orchestrate complex AI agents and translate ambiguous business problems into reliable, production-ready systems using modern frameworks and event-driven architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Agentic System Orchestration : Design and coordinate AI agents using LangChain and LangGraph to manage tool calling, memory, control flow, and multi-step reasoning.

• Java/Spring Boot Integration: Embed GenAI workflows into massive-scale enterprise applications leveraging Java, Spring Boot, APIs, and microservices.

• Advanced RAG Pipelines: Architect robust GenAI patterns including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), semantic search, and the full embeddings/vector database lifecycle.

• Application-Level Guardrails : Collaborate with the platform team to enforce prompt injection defenses, data privacy constraints, explainability, and Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) approval flows within the business logic.

• Evaluation & Operationalization : Define automated evaluation pipelines using DeepEval (or equivalent) to monitor for accuracy, conceptual drift, and hallucinations at the application tier.

• Technical Leadership : Define GenAI engineering standards for application development and mentor teams on when to apply agent-based approaches versus conventional deterministic services.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, anchored in enterprise Java and Spring Boot.

• Deep, hands-on expertise in Agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph) and prompt engineering (structured outputs, function calling).

• Proven experience building and scaling RAG pipelines and vector database integrations.

• Experience integrating seamlessly with secure API gateways and optimized LLM endpoints.

• Must be onsite at client in Charlotte, NC at least 3 days/week

• Demonstrated ability to navigate enterprise security, regulatory constraints, and complex architectures
