Job summary

The Learning Experience in Hoboken is seeking a dependable and energetic Lead Aftercare Teacher to guide our school-age program from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. You will lead the Aftercare routine, provide homework help, and create engaging, age-appropriate activities in a safe, nurturing environment.

We value caring educators with six months of childcare experience who can collaborate with families and the leadership team to ensure a positive afternoon experience for every child.

Qualifications

• Has at least six months of professional teaching/childcare experience; one year or more preferred.
• Able to meet all applicable background screening and state licensing requirements.
• Demonstrates genuine passion for working with and educating children.

Responsibilities

• Walk to local Hoboken schools to safely pick up children and escort them back to the center.
• Lead the daily Aftercare classroom routine from 2:00 PM–7:00 PM.
• Provide homework assistance and academic support to school-age children.
• Create and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans, projects, games, and activities.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing, organized, and positive classroom environment.
• Supervise children during transitions, activities, snack, homework, and play.
• Build positive relationships with children and help make Aftercare something they look forward to each day.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with families about their child’s afternoon.
• Work closely with the leadership team and fellow teachers to ensure a smooth and successful Aftercare program.
• Follow all TLE policies, procedures, and applicable state licensing and safety requirements.
