Job summary

Piedmont YMCA is hiring an After School Counselor for the Red Hill Elementary program in North Garden, VA. The role focuses on safe, quality experiences for children, with leadership from a Site Supervisor and daily enrichment activities after school.

You will support homework and wellness activities, supervise children, and help maintain site operations while upholding the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Qualifications

• Meets educational and experience qualifications as required by licensing and program standards.
• Minimum age 18.
• At least 6 months experience working in supervised child programs; 1 year in developmental settings preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Willingness to participate in required trainings (24 hours annually).
• Background check and TB test clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Lead a group of elementary-aged children in daily enrichment activities.
• Provide homework support and wellness activities.
• Supervise the classroom, activities and site operations.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness and proper program standards.
