Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Arresting Systems / ESCO seeks a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to drive design, analysis, testing and lifecycle support of mechanical systems for aircraft arresting and recovery. You will lead cross-functional collaboration and develop both existing and new products on-site in Aston, PA.

The role requires extensive mechanical design experience in defense/aerospace, CATIA V5 proficiency, and strong leadership with a focus on manufacturability and standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years mechanical design experience, prefer defense or aerospace experience.
• Experience designing complex mech/electro-mechanical systems to meet specs.
• Knowledge of industrial and machine design and analysis.
• Lead roles in product development with engineering-process implementation.

Responsibilities

• Design complex new equipment, machinery and components to meet customer specs while ensuring manufacturability.
• Create component designs and drawings using CATIA V5.
• Generate manufacturing drawings and specify tolerancing requirements.
• Develop engineering solutions and proposal docs for RFQs/RFIs.
• Develop engineering documentation for new products.
• Perform engineering analysis (hand calculations and FEA).
• Communicate with customers on project challenges.
• Coordinate with production, quality and PM for transition from prototype to production.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers.
