Job summary

Bowmar is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of aerospace electronic products for commercial and military applications. You will guide new product development, sustain engineering, and ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry standards.

Role emphasizes Lean Product Development and collaboration with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality, reliable products with minimal waste.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; 15+ years aerospace/high-reliability electronics design, or 20+ years experience in lieu of degree.
• Advanced experience with PCB design tools (Altium Designer PCB, SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD).
• Proven experience designing electrical systems, circuit assemblies, and electronic components.
• Working knowledge of AS9100, MIL‑STDs, and ITAR compliance.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineering projects and mentor engineers.
• Experience in Lean environments and continuous improvement practice.
• Hands‑on, detail‑oriented approach with a passion for engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electronic and electro‑mechanical products for aerospace applications.
• Analyze customer specifications; prepare technical proposals and BOMs for quotations.
• Perform calculations to establish design parameters, manufacturing standards, and electrical specs.
• Oversee installation and testing of electrical assemblies for performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain for manufacturability and compliance.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, routing, procedures, and engineering change notices.
• Lead product design reviews using Lean Product Development and Value Stream Mapping.
• Drive continuous improvement for quality, cost, and lead-time.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to electrical engineering staff.
• Support annual Strategic Deployment goals within Engineering.
