Job summary

Tower Federal Credit Union is seeking an Accountant II to perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, prepare internal and regulatory reports, and process wire transfers. The role also leads initiatives and collaborates with other lines of business on reconciliation issues.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance and 3 years of related experience in a financial institution, strong problem solving, Excel skills, and Prologue Frontier proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance plus 3 years directly related experience in a financial institution.
• 7 years or related experience in a financial institution is also acceptable if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the fixed and prepaid asset subsidiary system and record depreciation transactions.
• Prepare reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and end-of-month entries for accurate financial position.
• Monitor daily flow of transactions into/out of the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.
• Analyze reconciliations and guide custodians on proper procedures.
• Prepare regular status reports on reconciliations for management and deadlines.
• Contribute to month-end close, board/regulatory reporting, and journal entry preparation.
• Develop procedures to improve accounting processes and department efficiency.
• Lead system-related issues and department initiatives with Accountant I.
• Provide guidance to junior staff on asset life and IRS guidelines.
