Job summary

Alarm.com is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its Access Control team to design, develop, and optimize robust access control solutions across cloud-based platforms. You will mentor engineers, lead impactful projects, and collaborate with product managers, device engineers, and other software teams.

The role emphasizes ownership, scalability, security, and cutting-edge technologies such as C#, .NET, SQL Server, Kafka, Ember.js, and mobile apps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong object-oriented programming skills; C#/.NET experience is a plus.
• Experience with database design and development (SQL Server preferred).
• Proficiency in developing backend services and APIs.
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and messaging technologies (Kafka a plus).
• Experience working with IoT, hardware, or embedded systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop full-stack software solutions across platforms and technologies.
• Lead technical projects, make architectural decisions, and ensure scalability, security, and performance.
• Research, evaluate, and apply new technologies to solve engineering challenges.
• Participate in the entire development lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment.
• Balance speed and robustness, iterating when appropriate while building maintainable solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers and device engineers.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster technical growth within the team.
• Contribute ideas and improvements to the engineering culture.
