Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) seeks an experienced PCB designer/ECAD specialist to own design activities for accelerator controls and instrumentation. You will develop schematics, layouts, libraries, and documentation while collaborating with R&D engineers, technicians, and suppliers to deliver manufacturable hardware.

The role requires strong ECAD skills, attention to grounding and signal integrity, and the ability to manage licenses, tooling, and project setup.

Qualifications

  • Develop or revise schematics and PCB layouts using Siemens Xpedition/Mentor Graphics, Altium Designer, Cadence.
  • Create/modify schematic symbols and footprints from manufacturer specifications.
  • Understand grounding, layer stackups, routing, signal-integrity, and manufacturability.
  • Read schematics, datasheets, fabrication drawings, assembly information, and applicable standards.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate with engineers, technicians, customers, suppliers, and other ECAD users.
  • Plan and complete multiple assignments with changing priorities, deadlines, and customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise schematics and multilayer PCB layouts for accelerator controls and related electronics.
  • Maintain schematic symbols, footprints, padstacks, and library data.
  • Apply grounding, stackups, routing, and signal integrity practices.
  • Support analog, mixed-signal, high-speed digital, RF, and instrumentation projects.
  • Prepare drawings, fabrication and assembly information, and released design packages.
  • Coordinate technical reviews and resolve fabrication questions with teams and suppliers.
  • Administer ECAD environment including licenses, updates, project setup, and user support.
  • Estimate design effort and support multiple projects.
  • Provide PCB and control-system work for LANL and other customers.
