Job summary

University of Washington seeks a Lead Academic Adviser to support Engineering Undeclared students, oversee the Engineering Peer Educator program, and coordinate advising as part of the Engineering Advising & Student Engagement team.

The role includes developing curriculum for peer educators, coordinating orientation and training, and delivering holistic advising in collaboration with campus units to help students explore engineering pathways and prepare for major placement.

Qualifications

• Empathetic, professional, and efficient approach to working with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including public speaking.
• Adept at presenting to groups of 50+.
• Strong independent contributor and collaborative team member with initiative.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one developmental advising for ~250 Engineering Undeclared students.
• Provide Quick Question drop-in advising for all Engineering Undeclared students.
• Support holistic advising services by collaborating with campus units.
• Assist Student Academic Services team and update major four-year plans as needed.
