Job summary

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Publ Sfty Telecomm Supervisor to lead the 911 Emergency Communications Center, supervise staff, and coordinate training to ensure policy compliance. This role supports CALEA standards and acts as a backup 911 Telecommunicator, with on-call rotation as needed.

The position requires a High School diploma, 3+ years in emergency communications, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma and three years of experience in emergency communications.
  • One year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience.
  • Certification as a Division of Criminal Information computer operator; Basic Telecommunicator Certification may be required within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the 911 Center Manager with direction, management and daily operations.
  • Provide supervision and leadership to 911 staff.
  • Develop and deliver training to ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the Center's Quality Assurance Program and CALEA standards.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, counsel, and evaluate staff; assist with staffing and operational needs.
  • Perform the duties of a 911 Telecommunicator as needed.
  • Serve as the department's Assistant Terminal Agency Coordinator for the DCI.
