Job summary

Air Methods in Chicago, IL is seeking a Lead Station Technician for the 145 Repair Station. You will act as a subject matter expert, mentoring shop personnel and coordinating with AMC Maintenance Support to ensure on-time field maintenance.

You will train staff on 145 maintenance processes, manage materials, and report progress to supervisors while ensuring compliance with AMC safety standards. A strong background in maintenance procedures and RAMCO is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 8+ years of related experience or training
• Lead experience preferred
• Comprehensive knowledge of AMC part 145 and 135 maintenance requirements and procedures

Responsibilities

• Perform core duties of technician requirements at an exceptional level
• Coordinate with AMC Maintenance Support and Planning for field maintenance needs
• Oversee and organize shop personnel resources to meet deadlines
• Provide communications to Engineering for shop needs
• Coordinate with maintenance support for field needs
• Provide training on 145 maintenance processes and shop equipment
• Report progress to project leads and supervisors
• Mentor new employees on shop procedures
• Provide feedback to supervisors on performance
• Monitor and control material usage in the shop
• Other duties as assigned

Job SummaryIn addition to performing the functions and responsibilities of the specific 145 Repair Station Technician job description at an exceptional level; the Lead Technician will act as a subject matter expert for their maintenance discipline, accepting additional responsibilities as listed below and provide training and mentoring to shop personnel. They will be in charge of leading their individual teams. Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:

• Perform all core duties of applicable technician requirements at an exceptional level
• Coordinate with AMC Maintenance Support and Planning Departments to provide support for field maintenance needs
• Oversee and organize specific shop personnel resources and workflow to meet project deadlines
• Provide communications to Engineering Department for specialized shop needs
• Coordinate with AMC Maintenance Support and Planning Departments to provide support for field maintenance needs
• Provide training on 145 maintenance processes and specialized shop equipment
• Report Maintenance Leads and Supervisors on project constraints and progress updates
• Mentor new employees in understanding shop procedures to increase their efficiency and productivity
• Give feedback to Supervisor on employee performance
• Responsible for monitoring, controlling and ordering of material usage in the designated shop.
• Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and eight (8) or more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Lead experience preferred
• Comprehensive knowledge of AMC part 145 and 135 maintenance requirements and procedures

Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Efficient in the use of electronic or paper based manuals and able to navigate through vendor data to find necessary information
• Ability to apply comprehensive knowledge of concepts and practices of their specific disciplines skills and their application.
• Ability to work independently or within a team environment.
• Ability to manage several projects concurrently and to work on problems of diverse scope and implement solutions.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the AMC Safety Management System.

Computer Skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Thorough knowledge and ability to utilize of multiple RAMCO functions

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• FAA A&P or meet requirements to obtain a FAA repairman certificated preferred
