The Lead is responsible for an assigned manufacturing area. They will assist and support the supervisor with employee training, safety adherence, department performance, product quality, process improvement, and meeting production target goals. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards, and company policies are essential functions of this role.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the department runs efficiently within productivity, labor, and raw material standards.
- Complete department audits and ensure safety and compliance training is completed by employees.
- Provide coaching and training to improve employee performance and acknowledge positive results.
- Recommend staffing adjustments, including hours, shifts and overtime, to meet area‑specific objectives.
- Oversee and maintain a clean work environment.
- Monitor and report department issues.
- Assist with identifying and implementing process improvements within the department.
- Communicate the department’s needs to the supervisor to ensure proper resources for production target goals.
- Adhere to and communicate company policies to employees, following up that requirements are met.
- Track and report daily production metrics to the supervisor.
- Other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- HS Diploma/GED preferred.
- 1–3 years of transformer and manufacturing experience required.
- Basic skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
- WMS (Warehouse Management System) experience preferred.
- OSHA10 certification preferred.
- Material handling equipment experience (forklift, crane, etc.) preferred.
- A proven track record of safety excellence required.
- Adherence to all safety and environmental compliance regulations; notify management immediately of any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries.
- Ability to interpret work orders and ensure the team has what they need to be set up for success.
- Meet department and production goals set by supervisor.
- Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.
- Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem‑solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail, and teamwork ability.
- Adhere to the company’s employee handbook policies and embody core values.
- Ability to learn other department job functions and fill in as needed.
- Complete company compliance and safety training when required.
- Work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Lift 50 lbs floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times.
- Standing and walking for long durations.
- Bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times for long durations.
- Ability to climb up and down a ladder multiple times.
- Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in the heat and cold due to manufacturing facilities not being climate controlled.
