Job summary

Hillman Group in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Materials/Packaging Lead to oversee daily operations in a manufacturing and distribution setting. You will back up the supervisor, drive productivity, ensure quality, safety, and training for the department.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Schedule: 6:00 am - 4:30 pm (Monday - Thursday)

Exemplifies team expectations for operational requirements in a manufacturing and distribution environment. A lead is a primary resource in meeting operational goals in productivity, quality, customer satisfaction, and training for the department. Serves as a back up to manufacturing supervisor and is a high-level inventory support.

Essential Job Functions *

• Leads efforts to resolve quality barriers and addresses non-conforming material issues.
• Serves as a liaison with manufacturing resources to coordinate efforts in inspection of products, assemblies, or machines to ensure that they meet requirements.
• Uses measuring devices, functional gages, and a variety of basic hand tools to perform work and evaluate quality.
• Leads team 5S activities and serves as authority in maintaining a clean work environment; uses available resources responsibly to accomplish jobs without waste.
• Accountable for Outgoing and End of Line Audit results, addresses them with team, and aligns resources to eliminate potential errors.
• Processes interdepartmental and site level bulk and small storage handling needs.
• Monitors, tracks, and serves as a process and equipment pace setter in meeting and exceeding productivity requirements.
• Accurately completes a wide range of departmental metric tracking and paperwork.
• Completion of Inventory transactions with inventory analysis comparing to BOMs.
• Uses Job Hazard Analysis as a safety training resource and collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering and Supervision to maintain them.
• Reports inconsistencies (i.e., inventory, process) and operating barriers to supervisor and other exempt levels as required. Is a direct resource to influence and define resolution paths.

Education & Experience

• High School diploma or GED equivalent is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ten plus years manufacturing/distribution/assembly experience is typical and preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail required.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team to meet production goals.

Packaging - Material Handler: Self-paced, 8 hr shifts. May be exposed to fumes, loud noises, and extreme temperatures infrequently. Functional near, far and peripheral vision and functional hearing required.
