Job summary

McCall Farms, Inc. seeks a Lead Operator to direct and support production line staff in the canning facility. You will oversee Closer and Filler Operators, ensure PPE and supplies are available, monitor machine settings, and coordinate starts/stops to maintain line flow and safety.

You will verify product against schedule, report jams or issues, and liaise with the lab for testing and temperature checks. Strong reading, math, and reasoning skills are required to follow procedures and maintain

Responsibilities

• Provide direction to Operators and support when they are away.
• Ensure Operators have PPE and supplies; make adjustments as necessary.
• Monitor machine settings and notify supervisors of issues.
• Oversee cans to ensure correct levels of broth, water, or spices; monitor temperature.
• Provide information to the lab for testing and adjust temperatures as needed.
• Start/stop equipment and inspect cans before/after seamer.
• Maintain production line flow; report jams or blockages immediately.
• Conduct periodic checks on machinery and equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Job description

• Responsible for providing direction to Operators
• Provides support for Operators who are on break or away from work

Ensures that Operators have appropriate PPE/supplies.

• Make adjustments as necessary
• Monitors all machine settings and notify supervisors of any issues
• When operating machine, the Lead Operator must:
• Ensure the cans are filled with appropriate levels of broth, water and or spices, as directed by the work order and monitor temperature of canned items during the process
• Provide information and samples to laboratory to testing
• Adjust temperatures as necessary, based on feedback from lab technicians
• Stop and start equipment as necessary
• Inspect cans before and after seamer process
• Responsible for safely running the equipment
• Verify that all guards are in place prior to startup of machines
• Verify product being produced matches the scheduled item
• Maintain production and line flow, notifying supervisor or maintenance immediately if there is any machine jam or blockage
• Conduct periodic checks on machinery & equipment as required
• Other duties may be assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide guidance and support to Closer Operators and Filler Operators

LANGUAGE SKILLS
