The Clinical Medical Drug Monitoring LCMS Technologist Trainee receives on-the-job training for the analytical data analysis of extracted patient samples in the Clinical ToxAssure Laboratory. This high-volume, fast-paced laboratory performs high-complexity testing for pain management in urine samples, containing 180+ analytes per assay. Technicians are responsible for instrumentation and data analysis of four ancillary LCMS/MS confirmation methods outside of this panel, utilizing over 40 LC-MS/MS instrument platforms with Ascent cloud-based processing.

Pay Range: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills, relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Work Schedule: Sunday/Monday/Thursday/Friday 7:00am - 5:30pm

Shift: 1st

Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
  • Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required
  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Proficiency with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
  • High attention to detail, strong communication, and organizational skills
  • Must pass a standardized color vision test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed

Key Responsibilities:

The following are key responsibilities; other duties may be assigned.

  • Operate LC-MS/MS instrumentation utilizing the cloud-based platform, Ascent.
  • Receive and evaluate extracted specimens; prioritize work to maintain turnaround times.
  • Perform large amounts of electronic data analysis outside the laboratory.
  • Identify unacceptable or unusual specimens and handle appropriately.
  • Adhere to SOPs during data analysis and testing procedures.
  • Evaluate data for accuracy; recognize and correct errors; interpret results for reporting.
  • Follow quality control protocols; monitor and troubleshoot instrumentation as needed.
  • Maintain and calibrate instrumentation; perform routine maintenance and checks.
  • Keep accurate records and documentation for all tests and equipment.
  • Proactively monitor assay and instrument performance to prevent downtime.
  • Prepare and use laboratory reagents, standards, and controls as per SOPs.
  • Practice good documentation and deliver high-quality patient care efficiently.
  • Assist in training and instructing others in testing procedures.
