Job Title

LCDC - I Pay Rate United States of America (Hourly) Time Type Full time

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports directly to: Director, Residential Facility

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops and implements Cognitive Behavioral Therapy treatment programs
  • Coordinates the conduct of defendant screening, assessment, referral, and placement into substance abuse treatment and submits reports to the referring officer
  • Provides Individual and Group counseling as required per program curriculum per week
  • Documents and forwards Admission progress reports and incident reports, and Discharge and Aftercare Summary to the RSO
  • Prepares statistical reporting of clients served
  • Determines defendant suitability for treatment, ability to pay for services and conditions of treatment
  • Compiles output and outcome data and statistically analyzes it to determine the success of the program
  • Establishes and maintains computerized records and/reports
  • Attends and participates in TAIP/Department provider meetings
  • Collaborates with the Director, Residential Facility and Director, Residential Services to ensure program compliance with CJAD and contract compliance, productivity, and implementation of approved program curriculum
  • Complies with HIPAA and PHI to ensure confidentiality of all resident/patient information
  • Informs proper authority when attendance issues are present or non-compliance is evidenced
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed
KNOWLEDGE
  • Considerable knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral based counseling methods and techniques
  • Considerable knowledge of the 12 Core Functions of drug and alcohol substance abuse programs and treatment
  • Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system
  • Ability to make accurate and appropriate counselor inferences, assessments and judgments
  • Basic knowledge of referral and residential placement process within the criminal justice system
  • Ability to assess defendant condition and determine effective treatment alternative
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to organize and report data
  • Proficient in operating Windows-based word processing, spreadsheet, and data base software
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, other CSCD and County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, outside organizations, other agencies and the general public
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Behavioral Science or a closely related field is required
  • Master’s Degree in a Social or Behavioral Science is preferred
  • Must be a current Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC)
  • Five (5) years relevant work experience with adults in dealing with Substance Abuse issues and counseling is required
  • Five years supervisory work experience with a County, State, or Federal Probation Department is preferred
  • Completion of the Criminal Justice approved Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for use within a Correctional Facility and having implemented these techniques and concepts within a Criminal Justice Intermediate Sanction Facility is preferred
  • Education or experience may be substituted for one another
  • Required to complete the Residential Staff Certification Course within one (1) year of assignment to a residential facility
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Includes lifting/carrying 10 to 30 lbs. frequently
  • visual acuity, speech and hearing
  • hand an eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a medical and basic office equipment.
  • Duties require periods of walking and standing.
  • Subject to sitting, walking, standing, reaching, twisting and handling to perform the essential job functions.
  • Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and motor vehicle liability insurance.
WORK CONDITIONS
  • Working conditions are primarily inside a residential facility environment.
  • May be exposed to temperature variations and cramped areas.
  • Exposure to controlled correctional environment and potential risk of bodily injury and/or hazardous conditions may exist.
  • Individual will work in the proximity of some residents who could be considered dangerous.
  • Work with individuals who may have been convicted of felony and/or misdemeanor offenses.
  • May require travel to remote sites within Bexar County.
  • Required to be on call 24 hours and 7 days per week.
  • May require to work a flexible schedule and more than 40 hours during the workweek.
