Job summary

Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Illinois, seeks a research staff member to advance the GREET life-cycle assessment model through Python, LLM-based development, APIs, and UI integrations.

You will design modeling architectures, expand data schemas, develop data-driven results, and deploy new web interfaces and modules within GREET.

Collaborate with other national labs and academia, present at conferences, publish findings, and coordinate with sponsors to address LCA needs.

Qualifications

• Experience in LCA, process modeling, or closely related areas.
• Extensive experience in developing and deploying software using Python and LLMs.
• Extensive experience in interacting with sponsors and external collaborators.
• Experience in leading projects and tasks, tracking project progress, and directing junior staff.
• Expertise in topics related to process modeling and energy, resource, and environmental analysis of energy systems and/or materials and product systems.
• Excellent skills in written and oral communication to effectively interact with sponsors, collaborators, and internal team members.
• Ability to model Argonne's Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Improve the GREET software architecture, data schema, calculation engine, database management, and expandability for the Python-based GREET software (PyGREET).
• Apply Python and LLMs to develop, train, and deploy artificial intelligence capabilities in PyGREET.
• Build a rigorous data ingestion pipeline to collect, validate, and develop datasets for specific energy systems and/or material technology.
• Conduct rigorous LCA studies in the GREET modeling platform.
• Collaborate with other national labs and academia to incorporate new data in analyses.
• Communicate with DOE and sponsors to address sponsors' LCA needs and market the Department's analytic capabilities.
