Job summary

Tri County Special Education in Illinois is seeking a highly motivated Special Education Teacher with LBS1 certification to serve the Hartsburg-Emden Community Unit School District #21 for the 2026-2027 school year.

You will collaborate with parents, teachers, and counselors; develop and implement IEPs; adapt lessons; and support students in class, small groups, and one-on-one settings to help each student progress.

Qualifications

• Mentor and collaborate with other staff

Responsibilities

• Communicate with stakeholders regarding students' needs via IEP meetings
• Assess students’ skills and determine educational needs
• Adapt general lessons to meet students’ needs
• Develop IEPs for each student
• Plan activities tailored to each student’s abilities
• Teach and mentor students in class, small groups, and one-on-one
• Implement and monitor IEPs, assess progress
• Update IEPs reflecting progress and goals
• Discuss progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators
• Supervise teacher assistants
• Prepare students for transitions between grades and life after school
