Job summary

Innovations Academy, part of the Streamwood Behavioral Healthcare System, seeks a dynamic Physical Education/Se​pecial Education Teacher to deliver fitness and health programming for students with developmental and emotional disabilities. The role requires LBS1 endorsement and entails IEP implementation and supervision of aides in the gym.

Under the Principal, you will foster student growth, organize recreational activities, and may teach health and driver's education to provide credit

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is REQUIRED.
• LBS1 Endorsement is REQUIRED.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree is preferred.
• 1-3 years experience in a therapeutic day school preferred with focus on health and fitness.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical fitness training and health-related programming to students with developmental and emotional disabilities.
• Implement appropriate IEP goals and organize school recreational events.
• Promote programming to help students reach their educational potential and rebuild self-esteem.
• Teach health and driver's education (classroom only) to provide credit opportunities when needed.
• May supervise paraprofessional aides accompanying students to the gym.
