Job summary

Sehlhorst Equipment Services LLC is seeking an experienced Layout Engineer with strong GPS and surface modeling expertise to support civil construction projects in our tri-state service area.

You will provide field layout, GPS control, surface modeling, topographic mapping, and as-built documentation for site work, grading, utilities, and demolition, collaborating closely with foremen, project managers, and field crews to keep work accurate and on schedule.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in construction layout, surveying, or field engineering.
• Experience with GPS and surface modeling; Topcon GPS/Total Station a plus.
• Ability to read civil/utility drawings and construction plans.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction layout and staking for site work, grading, utilities, and demolition
• Establish and maintain jobsite control points and GPS localizations
• Operate GPS rover/base systems, total stations, and lasers to transfer plans to the field
• Create surface models and topographic maps, plus utility as-builts
• Review plans to catch discrepancies before work begins
• Communicate layout data clearly to field and office teams
