Job summary

Sehlhorst Equipment Services (SES) in Ohio is seeking an experienced Layout Engineer to support civil construction projects with strong GPS skills. You will provide field layout, GPS control, site work, grading, underground utilities, and demolition.

You will work with foremen, project managers, and field crews to keep projects accurate and on track, review plans for discrepancies, and operate GPS/total stations to transfer designs to the field.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in construction layout, surveying, or field engineering.
• Strong GPS; Topcon GPS/Total Station a plus.
• Ability to read civil/utility drawings and plans.
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Familiarity with Topcon Office, Carlson IntelliCAD, Pix4D, or Bluebeam.
• Drone mapping experience a plus.
• Assoc or Bachelors in Civil Eng, Surveying, or Construction Management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction layout and staking for site work, grading, utilities, and demolition.
• Establish and maintain jobsite control points, benchmarks, and GPS localizations.
• Operate GPS rover/base systems, total stations, and lasers to transfer plans to the field.
• Review plans and drawings to catch discrepancies before work begins.

Sehlhorst Equipment Services (SES), a fast-growing site development, excavation, and underground utility contractor established in 1985, is looking for an experienced Layout Engineer with strong GPS and experience to support our civil construction projects.

About The Role

You'll provide field layout, GPS control, site work, grading, underground utilities, and demolition projects. You'll work closely with foremen, project managers, and field crews to keep projects accurate and on track.

What You Bring

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction Management preferred, but equivalent field experience is welcome
