Job summary

The Pattie Group, Inc. is seeking a motivated Department Manager in Ohio. This entry-level role trains you to oversee lawn and plant health care activities, ensuring safe chemical use and compliance across departments.

You will coordinate scheduling, inventory, and driver records while developing the department and delivering quality service to clients. A pesticide license is required, and 8–10 hour days are common; background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Be willing and able to work 8–10 hours per day, 5–6 days per week.
• Pass a pre-employment background and driving record check.
• Have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Be authorized to work in the United States.
• Valid state commercial pesticide applicator license or agricultural/structural certification.

Responsibilities

• Complete coordination and training of lawn and plant health care departments activities, equipment and personnel.
• Assure safety standards are met and practiced.
• Oversee and perform the safe application of herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, and fertilizers to turf, trees, and shrubs.
• Develop and grow lawn and plant health care departments.
• Daily, weekly, and monthly scheduling of departments activities and projects with operations and account managers.
• Ordering of supplies for lawn and plant health care department.
• Maintain inventory system for lawn and plant health care departments.
• Assure and oversee maintenance and inventory of tools, trucks and equipment.
• Improve efficiencies and techniques in the lawn and plant health care departments.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local environmental health and safety laws regarding chemical use and storage.
• Assist in recruiting, hiring, firing, performance reviews of department employees
• Sell lawn and plant health care to new leads and upsell existing clients.
